First, foremost and most crucial of all, to be able to maximize your trip to Siquijor, get into your swimsuit, ride a habal-habal and do a tourist spot hopping across the entire province of Siquijor. Stop at a waterfall, swim for an hour then go to another waterfall, visit a beach and swim/beach bum for another hour. That's how it should go. Don't worry about going around on your swimsuit as the locals are used to it and you'll see most of the tourists, especially foreigners, would do this. If you are still uncomfortable, you can always cover-up with your sarong.

#1. have your photo taken at st. francis of assisi churchSt. Francis of Assissi is located right in the smack of poblacion of Siquijor near the port. Since it is near the entry point to the island, you can visit the church during your arrival or prior to your departure. The church was built in 1774 using coral stones common to Central Visayas churches. This is also where you will find the signage "Welcome to Siquijor".

#2. fish spa at enchanted balete treeRight below the huge balete tree (which some Filipinos believe to be home to supernatural and mystical beings), there is a natural fish spa which travellers can enjoy for a minimum fee. During our visit (February 2015), the fish spa was offered for free but I heard now, they are charging 5 pesos per person.

#3. cliff dive at salagdoong beachA visit to Salagdoong Beach would not be complete without cliff diving. You have two options -- one is 20 feet and another one is 30 feet. You can try doing the 20 feet first then move on to the higher platform. Other than this, Salagdoong Beach offers other activities such as barbecuing and beach bumming. Food offered by the restaurant is also good.

#4. visit tulapos marine sanctuary
If you are find delight with mangrove forests, coral reefs and marine sanctuaries, then this place is for you. We were not able to go here during our visit but I heard it was one of the places that shouldn't be missed. Aside from enjoying the lush greeneries of the mangroves planted by the locals and have grown to become a forest by itself, you can also snorkel in the sanctuaries nearby.
#5. flip jump at cambugahay fallsOr if you don't know how to flip jump, just jump! :D
Cambugahay Falls is not as spectacular as some of the more grandeur waterfalls in other provinces like Cebu or Bohol but what makes it special is its color. I was quite surprised with its bright turquoise waters, which I have never seen anywhere else. Locals, along with some tourists, were also cliff/flip jumping and will push you to do the same. |
#6. visit lazi church and conventAmong all the churches I have seen in Siquijor, this, I can say, is my favorite. The architectural design, both exterior and interior, is impressive. Similar to other churches in this region, it is made of limetone rocks but this one gives a reddish hue. Being the largest and the oldest, this church is the most visited in the island.

#7. beach bum at kagusuan beachKagusuan Beach is located in the minute town of Maria. This small beach has probably gained a bit more attention since it has been placed on the local tourist map but it was still deserted when we were there. Even if it is quite hard to find, you must not miss this out. It is definitely a sanctuary of pure white sand bliss!
