Our boatman Kuya Danny took us to the fish sanctuary after Yang-In Sand Bar. It was not as abundant as Palawan or Apo Island, but you will see a few here and there. Maybe since it was noontime? I don't know. We tried to feed them with leftover bread from breakfast but not a lot went near us. Maybe they didn't like leftovers. :-)Â
What I enjoyed so much was the very clear water of Cagbalete. You will see urchins and starfishes from the boat at 10 feet below. |
We asked Kuya Danny if we could snorkel around the area to look at the urchins underwater. Urchins in Cagbalete were so abundant that they would form a huge banig (handwoven mat) at the bottom. I also noticed that the urchins are much bigger and meatier than the ones we eat back in our hometown in Bohol.
Kuya Danny and his assistant were also kind enough to get us urchins for lunch free of charge. And yes, they gave us a lot when they learned that I love urchins and it has been a year since I last ate one. Thanks Kuya Danny! :-) |
