1. From any point in Manila, head to Cubao or Buendia. There are several busliners heading for Mauban but we particularly chose JAC Liner for this trip. Here are their bus schedules for Manila-Mauban route:
2. If you went through Lucena, make sure you drop off at Lucena Grand Central Terminal. That should be the last stop of Lucena-bound buses. From there, transfer to another bus named NCR Lines heading for Mauban. These are ordinary buses, FYI. 3. Once you get to Mauban, ask the driver to drop you off nearest the Tourism Office. 4. Head for the Tourism Office, which should be at a walkable distance. |
5. Pay the environmental fee of P50 per pax (price as of February 2016) at the Tourism Office. They will also be providing you with a pamphlet that you can use as your guide to Cagbalete Island. The information material also details some of the choices of resorts in the island and things you can do while on the trip.
6. Ride a tricycle and ask the driver to bring you to Mauban port. 7. Ride the public ferries going to Cagbalete. You will have several choices of ferries but we rode M/B Jamelle. Here are their schedules:
8. Once you get near Cagbalete, you will be asked to transfer to a smaller boat which will take you to the shore of Sabang Port (Cagbalete Port). Yes, the transfer will be in the middle of the sea but don't worry, this will be at the shallow part already nearing the shore. I'm not sure if this is done all year round but during our visit in February, it had to be done. 9. Going to your resort, you have 3 options:
