Over boats and rocksTo get to the Tangke, tourists have to climb over limestone rocks, which is quite challenging. Your boatman will be there to assist you and quite recently, parts of the rocks have been cemented (see photo below) so it will be easier and safer to step on them. During our visit, there were a lot of boats waiting for their tourists at the "entrance" to the lagoon so we had to walk over 4 boats until we get to the limestone rocks. Walking over one boat to another was quite fun -- wobbly but fun. :) #firsttime :) |
The water is blue green....actually more green than blue depending on the tide. The green color is stronger during low tide and becomes bluer as the tide goes higher. High tide during the summer season is towards late afternoon, 4:30 PM to be exact. At 4:30 PM, the lagoon is bluer and deeper by a couple of feet. It becomes deep enough for you to jump from the limestones around it. The water also becomes warmer as the temperature of the afternoon air decreases.
It was low tide during our visit so the lagoon is green and shallow. My friends went down to the Tangke to take some photos and swim a bit. I stayed on the limestone karsts to take photos and enjoy the view from the top.

Cliff jumpingOver the limestone karsts towards the sea is a perfect spot for cliff jumping. It was a bit difficult to get to the jump off point as it was steep and the rocks were very uneven but still a doable climb. The jump was a good 30 feet and the sea below is so blue, so calm and so inviting. I am talking as if I cliff dove. No, I did not. Haha! Unfortunately, I chickened out just before the climb. Maybe next time. :) |
